Jamie is a Vancouver Island-based freelance writer whose work has appeared in USA Today, Yahoo News, SmarterTravel.com, WestJet’s in-flight Up! magazine, Rand McNally travel guides, Women’s Health & Fitness magazine, Resort + Recreation magazine, and Kiwanis magazine. She is a regular contributor to SmarterTravel.com.

Travel & tourism

She is the author of the Vancouver Island Exploration Guide travel app (iPhone & Android versions) and various Vancouver Island tourism guides. For the island’s Comox Valley Visitor Centre that opened in 2012, Jamie was contracted to write the display panels for each exhibit.

Business & marketing

Jamie also regularly writes advertorials, websites, advertising campaigns, brochures, press releases, and other print and online collateral for businesses in many industries.

Editing

Most recently, she edited a HarperCollins nonfiction book released in 2012: “March Forth: The Inspiring True Story of a Canadian Soldier’s Journey of Love, Hope and Survival” by Trevor and Debbie Greene. Available on Amazon.
 

Her background

After earning a bachelor's degree in journalism at Indiana University in 1994, Jamie worked at agencies in advertising, marketing and public relations then was hired on as a writer and editor of various publications in Indianapolis and Chicago. In 2002 she moved to Canada and began her freelance writing and editing business.

Jamie is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers, Canadian Chapter.
